The leader of Montserrat's Movement for Change and Prosperity (MCAP) party, Reuben Meade, has declared a one-off public holiday following his party's victory in the same day's elections.
In the Caribbean, the day after an election, is often declared a one-off public holiday (13-Mar-2009, 22-Feb-2005, 21-May-2003, 21-Oct-2003, 27-Nov-2003, and 23-May-1997).
