Late today, Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the government had declared Wednesday, February 25, 2009, as an official public holiday to mark Gyallo Lhosar.
On that occasion, all government offices within the country as well as in Nepali diplomatic missions abroad will remain closed.
Gyallo Lhosar, is the new year´s day observed by Sherpas and indigenous people living in the hilly regions. Recall that, last year, Nepal had already declared both the Tamu and the Sonam Lhosars as official public holidays (07-Mar-2008).
