Philippines Declares July 27 Annual Working Public Holiday

(Posted on Tuesday, July 7, 2009)

Source: Sun Star Network (Manila)

Earlier today, Philippines President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, announced the official declaration of July 27 of this year, and every year thereafter, as "Iglesia ni Cristo Day".

As per the text of the Republic Act 9645, signed into law by the President on June 12, 2009, "Iglesia ni Cristo Day" is to be a special working holiday.

Coincidentally, July 27, 2009, is also the date chosen by President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for her last SONA (State of the Nation Address), an event which has, in the past (22-Jul-2005), often been declared a non-working public holiday.
