Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs has released its official list of bank and public holidays for 2010.
The most interesting aspect of the list is that it seems to clarify the status of the May 20 public holiday declared last month to commemorate the end of the LTTE armed rebellion (19-May-2009). Contrary to what had been hinted at, at the time, this was a one-off public holiday, and will not be repeated annually.
The published list, however, appears to contain many errors. Many of the Poya Full Moon Day public holidays are incorrectly named and, most importantly, the date for the 2010 Mahasivarathri Day public holiday is off by a month, somewhat similarly to what happened last year in Singapore (10-Feb-2009).
We therefore expect Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs to eventually publish a revised list of public holidays, as it did for 2008 public holidays (16-Dec-2007).
