Earlier today, the UAE's Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Governmental Human Resources Authority, HE Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, issued a circular announcing that Sunday, July 19th, 2009, had been declared a public holiday for ministries and other federal departments on the occasion of Isra and Miraj.
It is not clear yet if the private sector will keep the expected date of July 20, or whether it will also have its public holiday moved to June 19.
Normally, one would have expected the declaration of the private sector public holiday to be on the same date as that of the public sector, but recently, the UAE has started to declare public holidays on a different date for the private and public sectors (27-Feb-2009), something that other countries in the Middle East had already started doing in the past (28-Jul-2008 and 13-Nov-2007).
