The leadership of the Zapu-PF party has called on the Government of Zimbabwe to declare July 1 a new annual public holiday, to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo, also known as Umdala Wethu and Father Zimbabwe.
This follows the recent, July 1st, 10th anniversary of the death of Vice-President Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo.
It is unlikely that such a change, were it to come to pass, would occur before 2011, as the 2010 official public holidays in Zimbabwe were recently gazetted (29-Jun-2009).
