The Angolan parliament has overwhelmingly passed the "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales" which revises the current legislation on public holidays in Angola.

The "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales", which lists public holidays (feriados nacionales) and commemorative dates (fechas de celebración nacional), also sets out specific rules for optional public holidays and bridge public holidays (tolerancia de punto) as well as days in lieu public holidays (ponte).

This new law, which is expected to come into effect on January 1st, 2011, replaces the "Lei nº 7/03, de 21 de Março de 2003" (24-Mar-2003), which replaced the the "Lei nº 7/03, de 21 de Março de 2001" (27-Mar-2001), which itself amended the "Lei 16/96 de Septiembre 27 de 1996" (30-Sep-1996).
