Bénin's Secrétaire Général du Gouvernement, Ibraïma Soulemane, has announced that the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bénin had declared Friday, May 14, 2010, as a one-off public holiday, to assist in the progress of Bénin's current census.

The decision was taken at yesterday's extraordinary meeting of the Conseil des Ministres, following a request by the Ministre Chargé des Relations avec les Institutions and the Ministre du Travail et de la Fonction Publique, in view of the difficulties encountered in the current RENA census (Recensement Electoral National Approfondi).

Note that Thursday, May 13, 2010, is already an annual public holiday (Ascension), which means that Bénin will be on holidays for 4 consecutive days, from May 13-16, 2010.
