Malaysia's governmental Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia, aka. JAKIM) has published its Islamic calendar for 2012 (corresponding to 1433-1434 AH).
The above announcement means that, de facto, the dates of the following Muslim public holidays have now been set for 2012: Maulidur Rasul (The Prophet's Birthday), Israk dan Mikraj (The Prophet's Night Journey), Awal Ramadhan (First of Ramadan), Nuzul Al-Quran (Revelation of the Koran), Hari Raya Puasa (End of Ramadan), Hari Raya Korban (Feast of Sacrifice), and Awal Muharam (Islamic New Year).
Based on past practices (11-Sep-2009), this de facto announcement of 2012 Muslim public holidays dates, and the dates of the other non-Muslim Malaysian public holidays for 2012, are not expected to be officially confirmed until the end of the summer of 2011.
