The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has issued a decision, extending the upcoming Novruz public holidays to 8 consecutive days (9 consecutive days for those that have a 2-day weekend).
As was done last year (16-Feb-2010), the annual, March 20-24, Novruz public holidays will be extended by one day, Friday, March 25, 2010. This means a consecutive period of 9 days of public holidays from Saturday, March 19, until Sunday, March 27, 2011.
This day in lieu public holiday was not included in last year's (03-Dec-2010) decision, signed by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, specifying the official list of 2011 public holidays in Azerbaijan, although it is in line with the provisions of Article 105 of the Labor Code of Azerbaijan (30-Dec-2005).
Finally, Cabinet spokesperson, Akif Ali, announced that no bridge public holiday would be declared for International Women's Day, as has sometimes been done in the past.
