The Bahamas' Cabinet Office has issued a communique advising the general public that Friday, October 12, 2012, would be observed as the upcoming non-working public holiday corresponding to the 2012 Discovery Day.
As per the list of official Bahamas public holidays for the calendar year 2012, released earlier this year (16-Jan-2012), the name Discovery Day, remains unchanged, stemming from the government's reluctance (14-Oct-2009 and 28-Sep-2007) to gazette the National Heroes Bill and the National Honours Bill, which were approved by both houses of Parliament, 5 years ago (30-Mar-2007).
