The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has announced that Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, 2012, had been declared as one-off non-working public holidays (journées fériées et chômées) on account of the upcoming summit of French-speaking countries.
As per the aforementioned announcement the Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13, 2012, one-off non-working public holidays were declared to allow for a smooth running of the summit (pour permettre le bon déroulement des travaux du XIVème sommet de la Francophonie).
One-off public holidays in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are not frequent, but have occurred on occasion (18-Dec-2011 and 09-Mar-2009).
