Omani authorities have announced the dates of the upcoming Eid al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) non-working public holidays for the private sector and the public sector, for the calendar year 2012.
As per a decision by Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Khalid Bin Hilal Bin Saud Al Busaidi, the Eid al Adha public sector holidays for employees at ministries, public authorities and other government departments will run from from Thursday, October 25, to Friday, November 2, 2012, inclusively. Such weeklong extensions of the Eid public sector holidays are common in Oman (31-Oct-2011, 24-Aug-2011, 06-Sep-2010 and 17-Sep-2009).
In a separate announcement, Oman's Minister of Manpower, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, issued a ministerial decision stating that the upcoming private sector, non-working, Eid al Adha public holidays will run from Friday, October 25, until Tuesday, October 30, 2012, inclusively. Additionally, those in the private sector that benefit from a 2-day weekend, will be off on Thursday, October 25, 2012.
The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has not yet announced bank holidays for all the banks operating in the Sultanate of Oman for the upcoming Eid al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) non-working public holidays.
