Uganda's Information Minister, Mary Karooro Okurut, has issued an urgent, Saturday morning, statement denying all recent rumours that Monday, October 8, 2012, had been declared a one-off public holiday to link the October 9th public holiday with the previous weekend.
The aforementioned rumours had been fueled by the fact that on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, Uganda will be celebrating the public holiday marking the 50th anniversary of its independence.
