18 Mar 2013 Cuban 2013 Public Holidays Amended (Órgano Oficial del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba-Granma) The Cuban government has amended the recently-released list of non-working public holidays in Cuba for the calendar year 2013, by adding a public holiday on the date of the upcoming Good Friday holiday, for the second year in a row.
• 23 Feb 2013 Cuban 2013 Public Holidays Announced (Órgano Oficial del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba-Granma) The Cuban government has released the up-to-date list of non-working public holidays in Cuba for the calendar year 2013 and the foreseeable future.
• 31 Mar 2012 Cuba Declares Good Friday Public Holiday (Consejo de Ministros de Cuba-La Habana) Cuba's Council of Ministers has issued a communique indicating that, as recently requested by Pope Benedict XVI, it had decided to declare Friday, April 6, 2012, the date of the upcoming Good Friday holiday, as a one-off non-working public holiday (receso laboral) in Cuba.
• 28 Mar 2012 Cuban Public Holiday For Good Friday ? (ACI Prensa-La Habana) Yesterday, during his meeting with Cuban President, Raúl Castro, Pope Benedict XVI requested that Good Friday be declared another annual non-working public holiday in Cuba.
• 18 Mar 2012 Cuban Papal Public Holidays March 26-28 (Órgano Oficial del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba-Granma) The Cuban government has finally announced that it would declare public holidays from March 26 to 28, 2012, to coincide with the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Santiago de Cuba and Havana.
• 29 Feb 2012 Cuba Papal Public Holiday Being Considered (Órgano Oficial del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba-Granma) The Cuban government has announced that it has not yet decided whether to declare one or more public holidays during the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Santiago de Cuba and Havana, on March 26, 27 and 28, 2012.
• 26 Dec 2011 Cuba Public Holiday December 30 (Órgano Oficial del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba-Granma) Cuba's Ministry of Labor has announced that Friday, December 30, 2011, had been declared a national non-working public holiday throughout Cuba.
• 26 Apr 2011 Cuba Declares May 2 Public Holiday (The Havana Times-Havana) Cuba's Ministry of Labor has announced that Monday, May 2, 2011, would be treated as a national non-working public holiday.
• 20 Nov 2007 Cuba Adds 2 New End-Of-The-Year Public Holidays (Milenio + Univision) The Government of Cuba decreed 2 new annual public holidays, December 31 and January 2, to take effect immediately (Decreto Ley No. 254 del 18 de septiembre de 2007).
• 19 Jun 2007 Cuba Declares June 19 National Day Of Mourning For Unofficial First Lady (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Government has declared today, Tuesday, June 19, 2007, a national day of mourning, following last night's death of Vilma Espín, Cuba's unofficial First Lady for the last 47 years.

Christmas: The celebration of Christmas as a public holiday in Cuba, was stopped in 1970 (to use that extra working day to increase sugar production). But, after a 30 year absence, Cuba re-established Christmas as one of its public holidays, in 1998, on the eve of the visit of Pope John Paul II .
