The Daily Herald (Philipsburg) - The leader of the Government of the Netherlands Antilles, Commissioner William Marlin, has been quoted as saying that, with more autonomy after October 10th, St. Maarten will be able to make its own decisions, such as declaring Emancipation Day, on July 1, as a national public holiday ("By the grace of God, July 1, 2011, will be a public holiday in the new country St. Maarten").
