Israel Considering Jerusalem Day Public Holiday

Source: Jerusalem Post (Jerusalem)

The Knesset (Israel's Parliament) Law Committee has adopted a draft proposal that would make Jerusalem Day (Iyar 28 in the Hebrew calendar) an official holiday and an optional day off work.

The bill, drafted by National Religious Party MK Hanan Porat, is modeled on the legislation that makes Independence Day a national holiday but does not make it a mandatory vacation day (workers can choose it as one of two optional holidays).
