Today is the last time that December 7 is observed as a non-working public holiday in the Ivory Coast.

This public holiday, commemorating the anniversary of the death of the Ivory Coast's first president, Felix Houphouet- Boigny, on December 7, 1993, was to remain a non-working public holiday in the Ivory Coast until the year 2000, only (1996-05-09).
