The Armenian Parliament has voted to restore 2 annual public holidays that were dropped in 1990, when Armenia gained its independence.
As such, the upcoming May 1st and March 8th will be celebrated officially as non-working public holidays in Armenia, to celebrate International Labour Day and International Women's Day. In compensation, the April 7, "Motherhood and Beauty Day", annual non-working public holiday in Armenia will be made into a working day.
The recently-voiced idea of declaring February 18 as an annual public holiday (2001-02-19) was not taken-up in this recent bill.
