An amendment to the Uruguayan public holidays legislation has been gazetted, which will keep fixed the dates of the observances of the June 19 and November 2 annual non-working public holidays.
After the changes from the aforementioned Ley 17.414 come into effect, at the beginning of 2002, only 3 "movable" public holidays established a few years ago (1996-12-31), will remain: April 19 (Desembarco de los 33 Orientales), May 18 (Batalla de las Piedras), and October 12 (Descubrimiento de América).
