The UAE's Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Matar Humaid Al Tayer, has announced that Tuesday, May 13, 2003, would be officially observed as a private sector non-working public holiday by all of the UAE's workers.
The aforementioned announced public sector holiday was made on account of this year's birthday anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (Al Mouled Al Nabawi), but contrary to past practice, in 2003, it will also be observed by the UAE private sector.
