Guam Public Sector Holidays Law Signed

The Public Law 27-153 (house bill "An Act To Amend §1000 Of Chapter 10 Of Title 1, Guam Code Annotated, Relative To Following The Practice Of The Federal Government For Federal Holidays Falling On Saturdays And Sundays") was signed into law by the Governor of Guam, late last week.

The bill, which purports to put and end to the public sector practice of taking the day off the day before or after a public holiday that falls on a weekend, was approved by the 30th Guam Legislature last month (2004-12-22).
