Russia Confirms December 12 Public Holiday Status

Source: Novosti (Moscow)
Posted: Friday, December 9, 2005

The government of Russia has once again confirmed that Monday, December 12, 2005 will not be a non-working public holiday in Russia.

The aforementioned change stems form the late-2004 revamping of non-working public holidays in Russia (2004-11-23) which was later approved by the Russian Duma (2004-12-24) and signed into law by President Putin (2005-12-28).

Some attempts were made, earlier this year (2005-02-18), to overturn these changes and restore the December 12 public holiday, but nothing came of it in the end.
