Source: The Guyana Chronicle
Posted: Friday, December 29, 2006

Guyana's Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that both New Year's Day and Eid-ul-Azah would be observed as national public holidays, on the same date of January 1, 2007, without this coincidence giving rise to a day in lieu public holiday.

The recent announcement that the official date chosen for the Eid-ul-Azah public holiday would be January 1st (2006-12-22), had given rise to speculation that Tuesday, January 2, 2007, would be declared as an additional day in lieu public holiday.
