The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Masimov, has signed a government resolution which declares Friday, March 9, 2007, as a one-off bridge public holiday, to be observed jointly with the, annual, March 8th, International Women's Day, public holiday which falls on a Thursday this year.
To compensate for the aforementioned additional public holidays, Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 10, 2007, has been declared a regular working day throughout Kazakhstan.
The moving of non-working days from the weekend to the Monday or Friday adjoining a fixed-date public holiday has become a regular (2006-01-02, 2005-09-27, and 2003-04-08), but not systematic (2006-08-25), feature of the Kazakhstan public holidays calendar.
