Algeria Extends Eid al-Adha Public Holidays

The Algerian Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the Directorate General of Public Service and Administrative Reform have announced that the upcoming public holidays for the Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) would be from Wednesday to Friday, May 27 to 29, 2026, inclusively.
As per the aforementioned communique, "On the occasion of the Eid al-Adha festival and in accordance with Law 63-278 of July 26, 1963, as amended and supplemented, establishing the list of legal holidays, the days of Wednesday 10, Thursday 11 and Friday 12 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 of the Hijra, corresponding to May 27, 28 and 29, 2026, are paid holidays for all staff of public institutions and administrations, public and private establishments and offices, as well as for staff of public and private companies, all sectors and legal statuses combined, including staff paid by the hour or by the day".

Johor Declares Malaysia Cup Victory Public Holiday

The Government of the Malaysian state of Johor has declared Monday, May 25, 2026, as a one-off public holiday in celebration of Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) Malaysia Cup 2025/26 victory.

The government of India's state of West Bengal has issued the vide notification Memorandum No.1814-F(P2) amending the previously-announced public holidays for the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Bakrid or Feast of Sacrifice).
As per the aforementioned vide notification, "In terms of Notification No. 4188-F(P2) dated 27 November, 2025, 26 May, 2026 (Tuesday) and 27 May, 2026 (Wednesday) were declared as public holidays on account of the Day before Eid Al-Adha and Eid Al-Adha respectively. Now, information has been received that Eid Al-Adha will be observed on 28 May, 2026 (Thursday)" and "Accordingly, in partial modification of the aforesaid notification, the Governor is pleased to declare 28 May, 2026 (Thursday) as a public holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 on account of Eid Al-Adha. Consequent upon the above, the holidays notified earlier for 26 May, 2026 (Tuesday) and 27 May, 2026 (Wednesday) on account of the Day before Eid Al-Adha and Eid Al-Adha respectively, are hereby cancelled. Accordingly, 26 May, 2026 (Tuesday) and 27 May, 2026 (Wednesday) will be working days for all offices, institutions and establishments to which the aforesaid notification applies.".

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) of India's Central Government's has issued a vide Office Memorandum revising the date of the public holiday for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) for its administrative offices in Delhi and New Delhi, shifting it from Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The Muslim Union of Togo (UMT) had issued a press release, signed by its President, El Hadj Inoussa Bouraïma, announcing that the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) would be observed on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
As per the aforementioned announcement, the Executive Bureau of the UMT informs the Muslim community that the major festival of Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, making it a public holiday throughout the country.

As per the aforementioned proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary, Ralph Recto, "Whereas, following the 1447 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that 27 May 2026, Wednesday, be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid’l Adha, now, therefore, I, Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, 27 May 2026, a regular holiday throughout the country, in observance of Eid’l Adha".
