Christmas Island Announces Chinese New Year Public Holiday Change Of Date

The territorial administration of Christmas Island has released its official list of 2009 public holidays, which features change of date for the first day of the Chinese New Year public holidays.
Due to Chinese New Year falling on January 26, the same date as Australia Day, the Chinese New Year public holidays in Christmas Island will be observed on January 27 and 28, in 2008.
In addition, a day in lieu public holiday is listed on Monday, April 27, 2008, to compensate the fact that ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday. This peculiar behaviour is dictated by the Second Schedule of the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972 of Western Australia.
