Niger's Ministère de la Fonction Publique et du Travail has announced that the upcoming Maoulid (Prophet's Birthday) public holiday would be observed on Monday, March 9, 2009.
As per the aforementioned announcement, the declaration of Monday, March 9, 2009, as a non-working public holiday in Niger is based on the Loi n° 98-05 du 29 avril 1998 (NER-1998-L-53716) which overhauled the list of official non-working public holidays in the Niger.
Note that, as per the loi N° 2006-08 du 2 mai 2006 (2006-05-09), fixed-date public holidays that fall on a Sunday no longer give rise to a day in lieu public holiday on the following Monday.
The announced date follows the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar.
