The Gibraltar opposition (GSLP/Liberals) has called on the GSD Government to make April 29th, 2011, a one-off bank/public holiday in Gibraltar to coincide with the 2011 wedding of Prince William.

The "Bank And Public Holidays Order 2010" (LN. 2010/149) which set forth the bank holidays and public holidays for Gibraltar in the calendar year 2011, was published (2010-11-04) before the date of the royal wedding was announced (2010-11-18).

The UK (2010-11-23), Scotland (2010-11-24), and the Isle of Man (2010-11-26), have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Jersey (2010-11-22) and Guernsey (2010-11-24) are currently considering the idea.
