The Comisión de Economía y Comercio Exterior of Guatemala's Congress is considering a bill that would move mid-week public holidays to a nearby Monday.
According to the President of the aforementioned commission, Mariano Rayo, the non-working public holiday corresponding to annual fixed-date public holidays that occur on Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-Friday would move to the previous Monday.
The measure, first announced at the beginning of last year (2009-01-21), would apply to both the public and private sector.
