The Organization of Employers of the Republic of Macedonia is calling on the government of Macedonia to reduce the number of public holidays and legally mandated ethnic non-working days.
The employer organization is complaining that, as part of the 2007 Bill on Amending the Law on State Holidays (2007-02-08), the annual declarations of Macedonian public holidays (2009-10-26), contains a series of 16 ethnic/religious public holidays that are to be taken by certain employees, meaning that there are regular shortages of manpower that prevent employers from fulfilling outside contracts.
