Bahrain's Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has issued a circular declaring Sunday, January 1st, 2012, as a public holiday to mark the upcoming Western new year.
Contrary to what happened the 2 last years (2010-12-28 and 2009-12-29), the upcoming January 2 has not been declared an additional non-working public holiday, as the 2012 New Year public holiday falls on a Sunday which is not one of the non-working days in Bahrain (2006-08-02).
