Bangladesh's Religious Affairs Secretary, Kazi Habibul Awal, has announced that the upcoming Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the Prophet's Birthday public holiday, would be observed on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.

The announcement which follows the decision taken at last night's meeting of National Moon Sighting Committee, is in line with the list of official public holidays for the calendar year 2011, as announced by Bangladesh's Prime Ministerial Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad, last fall (2010-10-19).

Note that the day after, February 17, has been declared a one-off public holiday in Dhaka, on account of the Cricket World Cup opening ceremonies on that date (2011-01-28).
