The government of Bangladesh has announced that Monday, March 14, 2011, had been declared a one-off public holiday on account of the Cricket World Cup match between Bangladesh and the Netherlands on that day.

The aforementioned public holiday will be municipal, as was the previous one (2011-02-14), and will be limited to the Chittagong port city.

Most of the current World Cup matches will have been played on Fridays (February 25, March 4, March 11 and March 25) or Saturdays (February 19 and March 19), which are the weekend days in Bangladesh. But the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had requested (2011-01-25), that the 2 other matches that are scheduled to occur on a working day (March 14 and March 23), be declared as additional one-off public holidays.
