Bénin Declares January 28 Public Holiday

Bénin's Deuxième Secrétaire Général du Gouvernement, Eugène Dossoumou, has announced that the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bénin had declared Friday, January 28, 2011, as a one-off public holiday, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bénin's armed forces.

This is the first time that Bénin has declared a public holiday for its armed forces. Usually one-off public holidays are related to elections or events leading up to them (2010-05-12).
