A group of Chilean parliamentarians has tabled legislation that would declare a new annual non-working public holiday (feriado irrenunciable) for the Day of the Family (día de la familia).
The aforementioned public holiday would be set on the last Sunday of the month of July.
The main issue would relate to the opening of shops and large shopping centers; always a main bone of contention in Chile (2010-07-07).
