The Government of Gibraltar has gazetted the "Bank and Public Holidays Order 2011" (LN. 2011/002) which states that "to mark the Royal Wedding, Friday 29 April 2011 shall be a bank and public holiday".
The aforementioned official public holidays order follows last week's (2011-01-06) announcement by Gibraltar's Chief Minister, Peter Caruana, that Friday, April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday in Gibraltar to celebrate the marriage of Britain's heir to the throne, Prince William.
Currently, the UK (2010-11-23), Scotland (2010-11-24), the Cayman Islands (2010-12-21), and the Isle of Man (2011-01-10), have also announced that Friday, April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Guernsey and Alderney (2010-12-02), the Falkland Islands (2010-12-04), and the Turks and Caicos (2010-12-21), have indicated that they are currently considering declaring Friday, April 29, 2011, as a one-off public holiday.
