Liberian Senator John Akel Ballout has introduced a bill in the Liberian Legislature that would make the End of Ramadan an official non-working public holiday in Liberia.

Over the years, there have been recurring calls for Muslim public holidays to be added to the list of official Liberian public holidays (2009-09-02, 2008-01-04 and 2006-07-01).

In related news, there is still no official, or otherwise, announcement of a one-off public holiday in Liberia on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, to coincide with the upcoming Presidential and Legislative elections, as was done last summer (2011-08-09) on the date of the National Constitutional Referendum.
