Niger's Ministère de la Fonction Publique et du Travail has announced that Tuesday, January 11, 2011, the date of the upcoming regional and municipal elections, had been declared a one-off non-working nationwide public holiday (journée déclarée fériée, chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national).

Although no announcement has been made, yet, we also expect Monday, January 31, 2011, the date of the upcoming presidential election, to also be declared a one-off public holiday in Niger.
