Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Ihenacho, has announced that the date of the upcoming Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, Tuesday, April 26, 2011, would be a work-free non-working public holiday.
The date of the recently-canceled elections had also, temporarily, been declared a one-off public holiday (2011-04-02).
The statement went on to say that Nigeria's Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, had also declared Monday, May 2, 2011, as a non-working public holiday to mark this year's workers' day which falls on a Sunday in 2011.
