Pakistan's Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has approved the extension of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) public holidays to include Saturday, September 3, 2011.

The aforementioned announcement means that the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr public holidays in Pakistan will run from Wednesday, August 31, to Saturday, September 3, 2011, and last one day longer than what was announced in the "expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2011" published by the Government of Pakistan at the beginning of the current year (2011-01-03).

Last year, the Government of Pakistan extended the duration of both of the Eid public holidays (2010-11-08 and 2010-09-05).
