Qatari authorities have announced the duration of the upcoming Eid al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) non-working public holidays for the private sector, the public sector, and the banking and financial sectors of Oman for the calendar year 2011.
Last weekend (2011-10-29), Qatar's Ministry of Religious Affairs had announced that the month of Dhul Hijjah had begun at sunset the night before and. therefore, that the upcoming Eid Al Adha, and related public holidays, would be observed across the country based on the date of Sunday, November 6, 2011. However, at that time, no indication was given as to the duration of these upcoming 2011 Eid Al Adha public holidays.
As per last night's aforementioned announcement, the public sector holidays for ministries, governmental organs and the public authorities and departments, is set to run from Sunday, November 6, to Sunday, November 13, 2011, inclusively.
For its part, the private sector will be on public holidays and bank holidays, respectively, from Sunday, November 6, to Tuesday, November 8, 2011, inclusively.
Note that, as Saturday is part of the Qatari weekend (1999-09-18), the 2011 public holidays and bank holidays for the Eid al Adha in Qatar will actually start on Saturday, November 5, 2011.
