The proposal now goes to Congress for analysis, where it will depend on a simple majority in both Houses to be approved and sanctioned as law. Recall that, in 2013, the Brazilian Senate had formally approved the very similar projeto de lei da Câmara (PLC 61/2008), previously passed by the Brazilian lower house, and which would turn the annual, July 2, "Dia da Independência da Bahia" regional non-working public holiday into a new nationwide non-working public holiday in Brazil. But the PLC 61/2008 never made it to President Dilma Rousseff for signature into law.

The transfer is carried out in such a way as to optimally distribute the time of work and rest, if possible, to combine holidays and days off. Thanks to the transfer, the New Year holidays will last 12 days - from December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Five times next year there will be three-day days off: in February, March, twice in May and on Russia Day in June".
