The Secretariat General of the Sudanese Council of Ministers has announced that the public holidays for the upcoming Orthodox Christmas will begin on Friday, January 7, and last until Sunday, January 9, 2011.

As was the case in last month's announcement of the "Catholic" Christmas public holidays (2010-12-23), the aforementioned communique, public sector employees are expected to return to work on Monday, January 10, 2011.

Two years ago (2008-01-09), following a similar announcement by Khartoum State (2008-01-05). the national government of Sudan announced that weekends in Sudan would henceforth be Fridays and Saturdays.
