Swaziland's Minister of Home Affairs, Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze, has announced that the date of the upcoming Incwala (aka. First Fruits) public holiday would soon be announced.

Due to the complex nature of the rule used to specify the date of the Incwala main day, and its related public holiday, the Incwala public holiday sometimes occurs twice in a year, as was the case last year (2010-12-21 and 2010-01-02) and four years ago (2007-12-26, and 2007-01-04). On the other hand some years it does not occur at all, as was the case in 2006 and 2009.

Based on our calculations, we estimate that the upcoming Incwala public holiday will be announced for Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
