Uganda Declares March 14 Public Holiday

Uganda's second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, through his Permanent Secretary, Jimmy Lwamafa, has announced that Monday, March 14, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday on the occasion of the upcoming Kampala City Mayoral and Councillors' elections.

As per the aforementioned ADM 285/01 announcement, the aforementioned public holiday will apply "for the Kampala District only".

Recall that last month's mayoral and local government elections (2011-02-21) had been postponed a first time to March 1st in Uganda's capital, Kampala (2011-02-28).
