As had been expected, Argentina's Senate has approved the bill, recently approved by the lower house, to declare a one-off non-working public holiday on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.

Yesterday (2012-09-05), the influential Argentine daily, La Razón, had editorialized its estimate that the Senate and the President of Argentina would soon approve the bill to declare a one-off non-working public holiday on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.

Last month (2012-08-10), Argentina's lower house of Congress (Cámara de Diputados) has approved the recent bill to declare a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.

The aforementioned bill to declare Monday, September 24, 2012, as one-off non-working public holidays in Argentina surfaced last April (2012-04-01), the week after another bill (2012-03-26) was introduced n Argentina's lower house of Congress to limit the number of national non-working public holidays in Argentina to 15 in any given year.

It was then split into 2 parts (2012-05-25), and last May, a portion of the original draft bill was approved by the Argentine lower house of parliament, the part declaring a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on February 3, 2013, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of San Lorenzo.

Then, last June (2012-06-29), the Tourism Commission of Argentina's lower house of Congress (Cámara de Diputados) approved the move to the floor of a bill to declare a one-off non-working public holiday in Argentina on Monday, September 24, 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Tucumán.
