Belarus April 30 Public Holiday Ruled-Out

The Press Secretary to the Prime Minister of Belarus, Olga Long, has issued a statement ruling-out the imminent declaration of Monday, April 30, 2012, as another one-off non-working bridge public holiday in Belarus.

The aforementioned "On the transfer of a working day in April 2012" (Resolution of the Council of Ministers on April 2, 2012 No. 294), thus amends the list of official public holidays in Belarus for the calendar year 2012, which was released by the government of Belarus, late last year (2011-12-29).

Often in the past (2012-04-09, 2012-03-01, 2011-03-01, 2010-04-30, 2010-04-01, 2009-03-13, 2004-04-15, 2003-12-18 and 2003-04-25), in compensation for a Monday or Friday, one-off bridge non-working public holiday, a nearby Saturday is declared a regular working day throughout the Republic of Belarus.
In addition, the decree, "On holding a republican work day in 2012" (Resolution of the Council of Ministers on April 2, 2012 No. 295), issued on the same date declares Saturday, April 21, 2012, as a special "republican" working day that all citizen of Belarus must provide to the Government, without compensation.
