The president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has issued a decree declaring Monday, July 2, 2012, as a one-off non-working bridge public holiday in Belarus on account of the upcoming Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus annual non-working public holiday on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
The aforementioned decree thus amends the list of official public holidays in Belarus for the calendar year 2012, which was released by the government of Belarus, late last year (2011-12-29).
The Belarus Independence Day annual public holiday was moved from July 27 to July 3 in the mid-1990's (1996-11-25 and 1996-08-02).
