    The government of Spain's Autonomous Region of Galicia has published, the Decreto 68/2026, de 15 de junio, por el que se determinan las fiestas de la Comunidad Autónoma de Galicia del calendario laboral para el año 2027 (Diario Oficial de Galicia de 2 de julio de 2026), which officially gazettes its recently-approved annual official list of regional public holidays in Galicia for the upcoming calendar year 2027.

    The aforementioned gazette notification was jointly signed by José González Vázquez, Galicia's Conselleiro de Empleo, Comercio y Emigración and Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, the region's President.

    The Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Hun Manet, has announced that, for the second year, this year’s Water Festival celebrations in Phnom Penh would be canceled.

    As per the Prime Minister's announcement, "the government has decided to cancel the Water Festival celebrations along the Tonle Sap River in front of the Royal Palace, which were scheduled for Nov. 23, 24 and 25".

    However, as was the case last year, and despite the suspension of the capital festivities, a three-day public holiday remains in effect, as stipulated in the 2026 public holiday Prakas sub-decree No. 216/25 K.B/Br.K.Or.Th.K.

    Ecuador's Ministry of Labor indicated that last Friday, June 26, was not a national public holiday but a suspension of the ordinary workday that will not be recoverable, meaning that it is not covered by Article 55 of the Ecuadorian Labor Code which specifies that the payment for working on a public holiday corresponds to a 100% surcharge on the value of the ordinary hour.

    New public holidays can only be created through legislation, and all the Executive can do is to suspend the workday.

    The declaration of this one-off public holiday would be made possible by last summer's promulgation of Law No. 7544, which gives legal authority to the president to declare up to three one-off public holidays per year, in special situations such as sporting events, historical anniversaries, or to promote domestic tourism and national trade.

    As per the aforementioned press release, "Considering that Dr. Francisco Guterres, better known as Lú Olo, former President of the National Parliament and former President of the Republic between 2017 and 2022, passed away on June 21, 2026, in Malaysia, ..., A day off is granted on June 26, 2026, for the entire day".
